EXPANDEO 2024: THE CARBON REMOVALS CERTIFICATION FRAMEWORK (CRCF)

The Green Deal has driven significant growth for the Earth Observation sector in Europe, as satellite-derived data and services have become a key enabler in meeting the EU’s climate neutrality goals, in the context of many different policies. In recent years, policy implementation has relied heavily on Earth Observation and satellite-derived data and services. This is expected to continue as new policies create new commercial opportunities for the EO industry in Europe. The session will feature two high-level panels, which aim to delve into two timely legislative initiatives – the upcoming Carbon Removals Certification Framework (CRCF), and the Deforestation-Free Products Regulation (EUDR). Panelists discuss the role of Earth Observation in supporting the implementation of these policies at the EU (and national/international) levels and future opportunities for the pivotal role that new technologies such as Earth Observation will play.
