MLD Historie 165

Over a period of eighty years (1926 - 2006) the history of the Netherlands Fleet Air Arm(MLD) was mainly written by 2,3 and 4 engined aircraft. From the Dornier Wal to the famous Lockheed P3CII Orion. Surveillance-, transport-, light torpedobombers, medium bombers and medium and long range maritime patrol aircraft were in the inventory. In 1942 the PBY Catalina started its work from Ceylon(Sri Lanka) ending in former Netherlands New Guinea. A short period in NNG was for the Martin Mariner followed by the P2V7 Neptune until 1962. From 1962 anti submarine warfare(ASW) was the main goal from NAS Valkenburg, HNalMS Karel Doorman and many Nato bases around the Northern Atlantic Ocean. A rich history that was ended by a blind political view on the western world and its so called friends..
