The ambulance started from Mangaluru at 12.05 pm and reached Jayadeva hospital in Bengaluru in the evening at 4.35 pm. Haneef Balanja, who drove the infant from Father Muller’s Hospital, Mangaluru on Thursday to Bengaluru on zero traffic, hails from Guruvayanakere in Beltangady taluk. Haneef, who works as Bengaluru KMCC ambulance driver, has earlier received best ambulance driver award from Kerala government road safety division. The driver who drove the infant to Bengaluru in record time was accorded grand welcome by people at hospital premises. Speaking to reporters later, Haneef expressed his gratitude to people who gave way for his ambulance. The baby's health is stable and will be undergoing a surgery in 4 days.
