Arduino UNO, Using precision ADCs and DACs - Part 1 ADC

Taking the Power Supply project to the next level, we now need to start to look at alternate ways of reading and controlling the analogue voltages and current using a micro-controller, to that end I will start by showing how an external ADC (Analogue to Digital Converter) and a DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) can be connected to an UNO and with little effort made to read and set values way beyond the basic 255 levels of PWM out or 1024 levels of ADC in. I happen to have some sample 24Bit Quad channel Delta Sigma TI ADCs and Quad 16bit DACs , these come in TSSOP-16 packages so I will start by showing my "relative" skills in surface mount soldering by putting them onto a header so I can use with my breadboard. I will break the video into two parts First up is the ADS1220 ADC, data sheet here: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/ads1... and buy for 12$ from Newark here: http://canada.newark.com/texas-instru... you can of course buy from your preferred country and supplier The software library I used in this video is found here https://github.com/Protocentral/Proto... this is rather limited though and I will create a new library and place it on my GITHUB for everyone once available The second video covering the DAC8574 can be found here    • Arduino UNO, Using precision ADCs and...
