SOLD FOR $425,000 1971 Dodge Hemi Charger R/T // Mecum Kissimmee 2024

https://www.mecum.com/lots/1098808/19... 1971 Dodge Hemi Charger R/T LOT F133 // KISSIMMEE 2024 1 of 33 Produced with Automatic, Previously Part of the Steven Juliano Collection 1 of only 33 Hemi Charger R/Ts produced in 1971 with the Torqueflite automatic transmission Previously part of the Steven Juliano collection One repaint applied by Roger Gibson in original Sassy Grass Green Original 426 Hemi V-8 engine Power steering Power brakes Two fender tag intact Original Black interior Owner's manual There is a split-second Hemi Mopar owners all know. The accelerator hits the floor and there is a momentary pause before the dual 4-barrel Carter carbs atop a Street Hemi suck in copious amounts of air, kick down the TorqueFlite and howl in mechanical vengeance. Now, you simply hold on and smile. This Charger is a special car. Only 33 1971 Hemi Charger R/Ts were built with the TorqueFlite automatic transmission that final year. Previously part of The Steven Juliano Collection, this R/T also remains in spectacular condition with just one repaint since new, applied by the legendary Roger Gibson, and the interior, undercarriage and engine bay are all still original. In Sassy Grass Green and optioned with two fender tags, this car’s overall first impression is one of style and power. Beneath that helmeted-decal Ramcharger hood scoop resides the original 426 Hemi V-8 engine installed on the assembly line. This has the oval air cleaner that seals to the hood, power steering, power brakes, dual exhaust, correct hose clamps, black valve covers, a red-cap battery and more. As noted above, this is backed by the Hemi TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission. Chrysler added upgraded suspension and frame components any time the Hemi was ordered new on a car. The beautiful High-Impact paint is brilliantly accented with black graphics and a full black vinyl top, which is further complemented with the car’s original black interior. Inside are bucket seats, a center console with T-handle Slap-Stik shifter, the Chrysler Solid State radio, woodgrain interior appointments, a three-spoke sport wheel, chrome pedal brightwork and a Rallye dash with 150 MPH speedometer, tachometer and full instrumentation. Outside are 426 Hemi hood callouts, dual body-color mirrors with driver’s side remote, chrome exhaust tips, 15-inch Rallye wheels and Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. The Hemi ended production when this model season closed, concluding an epoch in American automotive performance that has lasted to this day. With its excellent ownership heritage and outrageous appearance, some might not want to put the hammer down on this wonderful, final-year Hemi Charger, but one could once they own it.
