A fiercely talented and versatile actor, Tilda Swinton has visited the Berlinale frequently over the years. Since her debut in Derek Jarman's "Caravaggio" in 1986, her career has spanned both arthouse cinema and Hollywood blockbusters, including collaborations with the likes of Sally Potter, Luca Guadagnino, Spike Jonze, the Coen Brothers and Joanna Hogg. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her dazzling performance in "Orlando" (1992) and won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the legal thiller "Michael Clayton" (2008). Other career highlights include "We Need to Talk About Kevin" (2011), the "Chronicles of Narnia" series and "Isle of Dogs" (2018). In 2009, she served as the jury president of the 59th Berlin International Film Festival. At her public talk at Berlinale Talents that year, she reflected on the defining moments in her illustrious career and her dedication to film as art. Moderated by Peter Cowie. Berlinale Talents is the festival's talent development programme for emerging filmmakers and series creators from all over the world, featuring public talks, workshops and screenings.
