Company of Heroes: Omaha Beach, June 6th, 1944

Here's the intro of the Omaha Beach mission from one of the best war games ever, called "Company of Heroes" developed in 2006 by the Canadian company "Relic Entertainment". The video basically consists of the CG intro animated by the Oscar nominated visual effects company "Blur Studio" and the real-time in-game Essence Engine animation by Relic Entertainment. To this day, in my opinion, Company of Heroes is the only game out there that truly captures the look and feel of Steven Spielberg's 1998 groundbreaking world war 2 movie, "Saving Private Ryan". One day while playing Company of Heroes, I was listening to some music, it was the magnificent score from "X-Men: The Last Stand" by one of the best composers working in Hollywood today, John Powell. I was amazed on how well the music fitted the onscreen action of the Company of Heroes intro, as the matter of fact, it's almost like John Powell's "Dark Phoenix Tragedy", one of my favourite tracks of the X-Men 3 score, was written for the first part of the intro. After finding that out, I thought it was a good idea to actually use John Powell's music in the Company of Heroes intro, so I created and edited this video. Off course, not everything goes together perfectly and I had to edit the music and video a bit to make it all fit seamlessly together as much as I could. But like I said, John Powell's music almost goes perfectly with the onscreen action. I think the end result is very good, the music is heroic and tragic at the same time and I believe it captures the horrendous experience those brave Allied soldiers went through on Bloody Omaha, all those men should be remembered each year. I love to experiment with video, sound and music, I would normally never use music in a battle scene like this, the sound effects alone are enough to put you in the thick of the battle, but as an experiment it was allot of fun to do. If you like the Company of Heroes intro and the X-Men: The Last Stand score by John Powell, then please buy the game and the X-Men 3 soundtrack CD if you haven't already, both are readily available for purchase and I would highly recommend them. Hope you enjoy the video! p.s. If your system can handle it, then be sure to watch the video in full screen at a resolution of 1080p full HD to get the full experience. **MI TROOPER** Company of Heroes © 2006-2011 THQ Inc., Relic Entertainment X-Men: The Last Stand Music by John Powell © 2006 Varese Sarabande
