Exploring Chappar Rift: The Hidden Wonder of Balochistan I Louise Marguerite Bridge

This is a video about Chappar Rift, the hidden wonder of Balochistan! At an altitude of about 6,000 feet above sea level, this bridge was opened in the presence of Duke Lord Roberts back in 1887. Serving as an alternate route for Quetta for five years, Chappar Rift is a marvelous piece of engineering by British India that you won't want to miss. Named after the Duchess who praised it, the Louise Margaret Bridge was built by cutting through a mountain that naturally split into two pieces. Engineers dug tunnels on both sides of the hill, each 3 km long, and 20 pillars were used to bridge the gap between them. Believe it or not, this work was completed within just 75 days! The train passing from one mountain to the other was a scene that attracted a large gathering, and engineers of that time were proud of their achievement. Even today, people come to witness this marvelous piece of engineering that was once the talk of the town.
