Security, Stability, and Control for Zero-Emission Bulk Power Grids and Microgrids

In this International Excellence Talk, Dr. Xiaozhe Wang presents recent works of her group addressing the three main challenges the modern low-carbon smart grids are facing: the high uncertainty level brought about by the intermittent renewable energy sources, increasing complexity of system modeling due to the integration of converter-interfaced sources (CIGs), and the vulnerability of power grids to cyberattacks because of growing dependence on information technology. Dr. Xiaozhe Wang is currently an Associate Professor and Rubin & So Foundation Faculty Scholar in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada. This is an International Excellence Talks, where internationally renowned scientists will give insights into their current research topics and, ideally, inspire a broad audience of scholars.
