C&AG Announces A Report On 8 IITs; Is It A Lack Of Supervision & Supervisors? | The Urban Debate

In this episode of The Urban Debate with Heena Gambhir, we discuss the CAG report which has blown the IIT reputation. An audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General has found that the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology established in 2008-09 have fallen short on almost all performance, administrative, and infrastructure parameters. It looked into the activities of eight IITs in Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Mandi, Patna, and Ropar between 2014 and 2019. The report was submitted in Parliament during the winter session, which concluded last week. Parents spent lakhs of rupees to get their children into these premiere IITs; it looks like these premiere IITs are just failing these parents. A Group of experts joins us to discuss this matter.
