The vision of "The Africa We Want" is commendable, encapsulating a dream of prosperity and unity. However, the stark disparities between this dream and the present realities of governance contexts across the continent cannot be overlooked. The guests in this conversation were from two parts of the African Continent, Mr Adeola Adebowale Morotito from Nigeria-West Africa and Ms Atamelang Free Adelaide from Botswana-Southern Africa. From their brilliant submissions, they were able to reveal the different realities that currently exist on the continent. Concerted efforts are necessary to align the "Africans we are" with the Africa we aspire to become. This involves a critical reassessment of policies and strengthening institutions to be more reflective of, and responsive to, the needs of the African populace. Through this rigorous and self-critical process, the vision of the AU's Agenda 2063 can be actualised, paving the way for a continent that is not defined by external narratives but by its own unwavering determination for self-determined progress and unity.
