The French Embassy in Fiji in partnership with Ocean Eco Alliance and the Fiji Museum organised a significant roundtable titled: "Can Fijian traditions serve as modern solutions for ocean conservation?" on Tuesday 07 May, 2024 at the Fiji Museum. The event was moderated by Ms. Komal Kumar (2022 Simone Veil Prize recipient), and the Fiji Museum (Dr. Katrina Talei Igglesden, Acting Director/Head of Special Projects) with an esteemed panellists featuring: Ms. Salanieta Kitolelei (PhD student at the University of the South (Directoresearching traditional knowledge of fishers in Fiji), Mr. Denzel Atumurirava (Intern, Climate Change Division, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Mr. Emosi Time Caniogo ( Director, iTaukei Institute of Language and Culture), Mr. Teddy Fong (President Uto Ni Yalo Trust). The roundtable also featured a strong artistic dimension, including a poet, Ms. Ana Taka and an illustrator, Mr. Honson Chan - whose live artwork was displayed on a screen, managed by Vivid Media during the event.
