Slingshot - A giant mule deer from Colorado's Rocky Mountain Arsenal

We've visited Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge many times over the last several years but it has always taken a back seat (for us) to chasing elk. We got some incredible video footage of Slingshot back in 2020 - the year he earned his nickname - with the "slingshot" nontypical point coming off his left antler. Since 2020 he has regressed a bit and you can tell the 2023 fall footage of his shows his size and the nontypical points that are sprouting up all over as a result of his age. He's still an impressive buck but he's getting smaller as he gets older. We're going to be hosting a couple photography workshops in 2024 at RMA - one to photograph these large mule deer bucks in full velvet and another to photograph them in November during the peak rut.
