We left Einasleigh just in time to escape the road closures that cut of the little town at the Copperfield Gorge over Easter. It was that bad, they even had to cancel their Easter Rodeo and Races for 2024. We encountered a few thunderstorms during this trip, and had to wait for roads to be open again before we could continue our roadtrip. In this episode we travel from Einasleigh to Cumberland Chimney, chased by Thunderstorms, and offgrid camping except during the heaviest storm, where we took shelter at the Goldfields Caravan Park in Georgetown. It just was the safest thing to do. If you travel along the #savannahway in North Queensland, and you look for a beautiful offgrid campground with lots of birding opportunities, you can't get past #cumberlandchimney This place is beautiful. It's an old Gold Mine, which had a little town square. The chimney is the only thing that has been left - and the man-made lagoon, which is home to a large number of birds. This is a donation camp that offers toilets, picnic places and birding huts. What a great place to stay for a while and break your travels. We recently turned on SUPER Thanks.
