Glenn Gould's Apartment in 110 St.Claire Avenue in Toronto - Exclusive Visit Inside

During the making of the documentary we had the honor to visit the famous apartment on St.Clair Avenue, where #GlennGould moved at the age of thirty! Chris Brands, entrepreneur, the current owner of the house, gave us some new insights. The house is very bright, though Glenn particularly loved keeping the shutters down. Gould was especially productive at night and often, during his training, neighbours approached the door to hear him play early in the morning.Even the cleaning lady sat outside and listened to what wasa very “private concert”! Marilyn Kecskes has been the superintendent of 110 St. Clair Ave. West since 1973. She first met Gould on the elevator when he was wearing gloves and covering his face with a handkerchief for fear of catching any germs.Kecskes said she had never met anyone like him: a maverick, aneccentric. She knew he was special, alsobecause his mailbox was the only one that wastampered with. Someone once tried to force it open, hoping to get some of his mail. When the elevator stopped, Ms.Kecskes opened the heavy doors next to what was once Gould’s apartment and climbedthe stairs to the roof. She pointed to what used to be his window. “I used to sit up here after I had done my cleaning, and wouldlisten to him play all night long,” she confessed, blushing at the memory. “He never knew I was up here, or else he would have been angry with me, I suppose, but I had the moon and the stars and his music and there was nothing more beautiful.” You can read the article on: http://www.glenngould.tv/2019/03/25/i... -------- “Nice to meet you Glenn!” is a self-financed documentary.
