Retable for García Lorca

"Retable for García Lorca", composition by Orlando Soccavo (2023). Instrumental version for Alto Flute in G and Piano. Inspired by three poems by Federico García Lorca. Video illustrated by three drawings by Garcia Lorca “Retable for García Lorca” is composed according to the structure of a tripartite altarpiece. The second song, chosen from the collection “Sonetos del amor oscuro”, is three minutes long, whereas the first and third, taken from “Ferias”, are each of a duration of one and a half minutes: the ancient sacred pictorial form becomes musical, tribute to the shot poet erasing the arbitrary border separating the profane from the religious.
