LEAD OTHERS TO GOD The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (January 14, 2024) We are in the Second Sunday of Ordinary Time; and in today’s Gospel, we would hear Jesus asking Andrew and his companion: “What are you looking for?” Andrew and his companion were disciples of John the Baptist who, upon seeing Jesus, proclaimed: “Behold, the Lamb of God.” It was the signal that prompted Andrew and his companion to Follow Jesus. Andrew, in particular, even brought his brother Simon so that he too might see what they have found: the Messiah. Later Simon would be given a new name, Peter. Friends, Jesus’s question is so apt now that we have returned to the Ordinary Time. “What are you looking for?” Peace? Justice? A Job? Opportunities for growth? Recognition? Fulfillment? Are we looking for brothers and sisters so that they can meet Jesus? May we be attentive to the signs that point us to the Messiah.
