what is an intercooler ? In turbocharged cars , turbo compress the intake air and make pressure ( 13-20 ) psi which helps to fill the combustion chamber with pressurized air which helps to create more power out of engine ( more air means we can add more fuel ) but it comes with a negative side , as air is compressed it becomes hot which leads to decrease in density ( which ultimately defeats the purpose of turbocharging ) so to over come that problem the compressed air from the turbo passes through intercooler which is placed in front of the car ( its just like the radiator but instead of cooling coolant its cooling air ) which helps to cool it down and increase the density of air , which is used for combustion in engine and helps to produce more power due to the crankcase ventilation system vapours of heated engine oil enters the intake system and cool down in intercooler and condenses back to oil which ultimately reduces the ability of intercooler to provide cooling to air . intercooler cleaning is a parts of service but not done very often , it is supposed to be done after every 60-70 thousand kms , to maintain the peak efficiency of engine on every aspect . problems which can arise due to chocked intercooler / benifits of intercooler cleaning low pickup , black smoke problem in diesel engines , low fuel economy these all problems Procedure performed on tata safari 2.2 vtt dicor but it remains same for every car on road which has a turbo and intercooler . can be performed on swift diesel , i20 diesel , polo diesel , vento diesel , scorpio diesel , toyota fortuner. 2020 #tatasafari #safaridicor #tatasafarisuv
