Delivering high environmental targets and setting new standards for workplace comfort was the focus for our work on one of Warsaw’s landmark buildings – Generation Park Y – a striking 140m office tower. Buro Happold was invited to provide structural and building services solutions for this building. To meet our client’s goal for LEED Platinum certification, our services team developed a number of environmental systems, including a greywater collection system used for toilet flushing. A combination of active chilled beams and low-velocity air ducts eliminates the need for silencers on the air handling units to further reduce energy consumption. We were able to reduce energy consumption by more than 27% and the demand for freshwater by 40%. To promote the health and wellbeing of its occupants, we incorporated the latest technology systems to create comfortable, intuitive workspaces. Designing a flexible internal layout to accommodate a range of tenants also played a big role in achieving this. Beyond the building, open areas complete with green pergolas for outdoor meetings and socialising, as well as an onsite nursery and medical centre, support the needs of workers and secure Generation Park Y as a landmark office development in Warsaw.
