(MATTHEW 5:1 KJV). EXPLANATION: I greet you in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Today, we will meditate on the verse, “And seeing the multitudes, he (Jesus) went up into a mountain:..." (Matthew 5:1). It was Jesus who climbed the mountain and set us an example. He ascends before us like a great military commander. Picture a crowd of willing climbers following in His footsteps as He lovingly calls out, “Come up.” Instead of asking you to somehow climb up and join us, He invites you to follow His example and climb the mountain. It was to bring you up that He forsook the heavenly heights and descended to the low places of the earth for you. He humbled Himself that He might exalt you. He Himself became poor, that you might become rich. He took the form of a slave to make you kings. He climbed the mountain for you so that you could follow in His footsteps. What were the people He met at the foot of the mountain? The Bible says, “...when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them,..." (Matthew 9:36). At the foot of the mountain, even today, a crowd wanders aimlessly at will. They do not know who their Shepherd is. Because they don’t know their Shepherd, they give importance to this and live a miserable life. They do not know the purpose of worldly life. There is no way to obtain eternal life. The prophet Ezekiel saw a multitude of bones lying dry in the Valley of Bones (Ezekiel 37:1-6). This is the condition of people today. Due to the abundance of problems, they lose hope and appear as walkers. The word of the Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit should revive them. Every second, you should be ascending toward the eternal kingdom of heaven. Wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to death. Those who live by the mind slide down the portals of the underworld. They fall headlong into the sea of fire. But the way up to life is narrow and narrow. Few find it. Beloved, let the goal of your life be to ascend to the highest through Jesus Christ, the door of life. Reinventing! He makes glory upon glory. Shouldn’t you be one of them? Jesus Christ ascended the mountain to preach to multitudes and explain the greatness of the scriptures. Yes, sermons awaken the spiritual life of God’s people. They invigorate the spirit. Five thousand men climbed the mountain to listen to the verse. It was these five thousand who set their hearts to seek and follow the Lord out of the great wandering multitude without a shepherd! These are the only ones who stepped on the first step to ascend to God. Do you know what Job’s testimony is? “...I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food." (Job 23:12). Notice that Jeremiah’s experience is also classic. “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart:..." (Jeremiah 15:16) he says with joy. Beloved, if you want to progress in spiritual life, eat the scriptures eagerly. PRAYER: Dear Lord, I thank You for speaking to me through Your Word. I remember You climbing the mountain and teaching Your disciples. I want to accept Your invitation and walk in Your path. Your words are the light of my life. Without Your guidance, I would be lost. I want to meditate on Your words and be filled with Your spirit. The biographies of apostles, prophets, and believers remind me of the power of Your Word. Like them, I want to apply Your words in my life. Help me become a new person. I want to grow in Your image. I will glorify You through my life so that Your Kingdom may be established on earth.
