I installed an "off-line" Hayward chlorine feeder to replace my salt cell chlorine generator and to upgrade my blue chlorine tablet pool floater. What I didn't realize is that I'm brewing a noxious combination of bleach and chlorine gas by dissolving the chlorine tablets in a closed container. The chlorine gas on top of the water in the chlorinator is invisible and will burn your eyes and your throat instantly when you open it. The chlorine water in the chlorinator will bleach anything it touches. I made this video to help others avoid the mistakes I made the first time I opened it one week after its installation. The video also shows the completed installation, my method of mounting the container to a solid base, and my weekly service procedure for adding new chlorine tablets safely.
