Smith Corona Typewriters 1935 - 1980 Type Alignment / Shift Motion Upper Lower Case Adjustment

Adjusted a few type slugs / faces including letters A, E, L, T, O . Still a little inconstant print due to some wear in the type guide & bars. Impossible to show exactly how to do these fine fine adjustments due to the fact It took me years & years to hone these skills & would be useless to video tape that exact process. More common issue was the type bar slugs (faces) were hitting the platen too high causing upper portion of certain characters to print light. Two solutions can be performed, depending on make & model of typewriter. Either platen can be raised or lowered to bring this into adjustment. On these Smith-Corona's platens are fixed for the most part & the easiest fix is to adjust basket home position. Then adjust shift motion for exact upper/lower alignment.
