Θεοτόκε Παρθένε This is the slow version of the chant Θεοτόκε Παρθένε which is sung during the liti in the vespers. It has an interesting structure where all 8 tones are sung throughout: Θεοτόκε Παρθένε- 1st tone Χαῖρε κεχαριτωμένη- 2nd tone Μαρία, ὁ Κύριος μετὰ σοῦ- 3rd tone Εὐλογημένη, σὺ ἐν γυναιξί- 4th tone Καὶ εὐλογημένος- 5th tone Ο καρπὸς τῆς κοιλίας σου- 6th tone Ότι Σωτῆρα ἔτεκες- 7th (grave) tone Τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν- 8th tone Τῶν ψυχῶν ἡμῶν (again)- 1st tone The change in tone can be noticed when the choir changes. This recording was taken from the vigil for Mary Magdalene in Simonopetras where monks from Docheiariou and Simonopetras sung English: O Virgin Theotokos, rejoice, Mary full of grace. The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb; for you have borne the Savior of our souls.
