While tabbed batteries are pretty cheap, there is still something to be said for using a battery retainer and "off the shelf" batteries. HDR made a mod that you can solder in to your cart and add your own retainer relatively pain free. Order a board (or three) for yourself right here: https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/X... Make sure to select FLEX PCB on the cart page. Standard PCBs will be too thick to fit inside the cart. The battery retainer part number is listed in the oshpark link. Plug that part number into your favorite parts seller and you should be able to find it pretty easily. CR2016 retainers will also work but you'll need to use CR2016 batteries in kind. CR2032 retainers will be too tall and will cause bulging in most cart shells. As of the publishing of this video, rev4 is the newest version and should fix the problem I encountered where the battery was not making proper contact. The version shown in the video is either rev1 or rev2 so it's an older variant.
