The Glaive Identity Crisis Part 1: Melee Buffs and Damage (Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted)

THERE IS MORE TO MELEE ACTIVATED EFFECTS THAN I MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO. I have tested those more here:    • Видео   Timestamps if you want to see one specific interaction: 00:00 Stated intentions for glaives 00:15 Baseline damage test (no buffs) 00:36 Note about overkill damage 00:41 Winter's Guile/Wormgod Caress (no) 1:17 Knockout (no) 1:34 Offensive Bulwark (no) 1:55 Well of Ions (no) 2:19 1-2 Punch because the idea is funny to me (still no tho) 2:40 What actually is a glaive melee then? 2:59 Reaping Wellmaker (yes) 3:20 High Energy Fire (yes) 3:41 Striking Light (no) 4:04 Empowering Rift (yes) 4:18 Radiant (yes) 4:35 Weapons of Light (yes) 4:50 The Path of Burning Steps (yes) 5:30 Lumina/Blessing of the Sky (yes) 5:50 Summary if you just want to take my word for it I don't know why I didn't record my testing of Synthoceps, but they do not work. Interestingly, some melee-based effects in Void 3.0 (Echo of Leeching, Echo of Exchange) do work with glaive melees. This shows that Bungie has the ability to follow through on their stated intentions, but currently everything melee outside of Void 3.0 (and some stuff in it like Offensive Bulwark) doesn't seem to be working. Ever since glaives came out I was interested to see how a weapon with a melee component would function in the game. Bungie has clarified their intentions and had some time since the Witch Queen release to figure things out, so how are they working now? Turns out it's a bit of a mess... I forgot to test Well, but this is a good time to test the "glaive melee is considered a weapon by everything except glaives" theory. If it is correct, Well should buff the glaive melee just like Empowering Rift. Some other stuff I didn't think to test earlier: Dunemarchers, Foetracer (pointless but could be interesting), Mask of Bakris buff vs stasis'd targets, whether glaive melee activates cross counter with Liar's Handshake (since you can do an uncharged melee and then cross counter, although I imagine it wouldn't work because the exotic states "arc melee" and glaive melee is kinetic). These are all very niche interactions obviously, but they could provide more insight into how glaives work. Mods like Hands On, Impact Induction, and Focusing Strike are also worth a closer look at some point. Background music stuff: https://freemusicarchive.org/music/ho...
