#hiking #search #camping #missing #yosemite Hello everyone, in today's video I will be discussing the disappearance of a Park Ranger who went missing sometime between August 24 and August 27, 2024. Kirk S. Thomas-Olsen (61) set out for his hike to Ostrander Lake on August 24, 2024. He was planning for this to be a 4 day solo hike and left a note on his vehicle explaining this to any ranger that may pass by. The hike is a loop trail, roughly 11.4 miles with an elevation gain of roughly 1,600 feet. The hike is considered strenuous (by the NPS) and takes roughly 8 to 10 hours. Kirk was a very experienced hiker and had been working for the state parks department in California since 2014. He was taking this hike to help him decide where he wanted to work next. Unfortunately, he never returned to his vehicle as planned and a search and rescue was launched. This is the exact same area that Anaa Rodarte and Miguel Delgado disappeared only a few days prior to Kirk's disappearance. Anna and Miguel were camping at the Bridaveil Creek Campground when they set off for what they thought was only going to be a couple hour hike.
