Texas A&M AgriLife Extension-Travis County kicked off the 2024 Texas Tough Plants webinar series and on February 21, 2024. Native and Adapted Plants for Central Texas: Skip Richter, Texas AgriLife Extension Service Horticulturist (retired) and host of GardenLine on KTRH 740 AM, will discuss some of the best native and adapted plants for creating a beautiful landscape in central Texas that can tolerate extremes of heat and cold, drought, and deluge. Wild About Plants: Denise Delaney, the City of Austin Watershed Protection Department’s Acting Education Program Manager, follows Wild About Plants. Grow Green is a City of Austin water quality education program encouraging people to make landscaping choices that benefit the environment. Central Texas climate has many extremes, so the plants have to be Texas tough! Understanding what makes them capable of surviving, the regional environment, and the importance of site-specific conditions is essential to making informed plant selection decisions.
