How To Dry Fresh Cut Timber In A Microwave Oven (Yew Wood)

Yew wood is beautiful stuff. It’s not easy to use though, because the grain goes all over the place. We are looking for a buyer for the main trunk (or parts of it) and in the meantime we’re considering what we could do with it ourselves. The first job is to dry it enough to work. It took an hour to microwave these 4 little planks to approximately 15% moisture content. Hardly a practical method for the whole tree, but just about possible for small jobs like boxes and jewellery. We’d like to help Rosie and Mike find a way to fund the ongoing management of these lovely woods, so if you have any helpful ideas please share them with us.
