In October of 2021, I visited Whittier, Alaska, to hike the Portage Pass Trail. This trail is about 5 miles round trip and has a summit height of 800 feet. During my solo hike, I had to deal with a mix of rain and snow, as well as some minor flooding. Despite the poor weather, I made it all the way to Portage Lake and was rewarded with spectacular views of the Portage Glacier. I highly recommend this hike for anyone who can complete hikes of moderate difficulty.
