The Stories of Grand Duchess Tatiana’s Impostors (The Romanov Impostors 6)

Grand Duchess Tatiana was the second-eldest daughter of the deposed Russian Emperor Nicholas II, and his wife, the Empress Consort Alexandra. Described by Alexandra’s lady-in-waiting Anna Vyrubova as the tallest and most graceful of all the Grand Duchesses, Tatiana was twenty-one years of age when the Russian Imperial family, the House of Romanov were murdered at the hands of a firing squad in the basement of Ipatiev’s House in Yekaterinburg on the 17th of July, 1918. Tatiana would be a less-common target for impostors in contrast to her younger teenage sisters, the Grand Duchesses Maria and Anastasia. However, there were still a few individuals who attempted to deceive others into believing that they were the legitimate Grand Duchess Tatiana who had been miraculously saved from execution. All of them would eventually be exposed as impostors, as the skeletal remains of the Imperial family were recovered and identified through DNA testing in the 1990s. This video aims to explore the lives and motivations of the following individuals: Michelle Anches - appeared in France in the early 1920s, claiming that she came directly from Siberia. Outwardly resembling the Grand Duchess, she did not want to talk about how she managed to escape from Yekaterinburg, stating that she would only reveal the whole truth face to face to her "grandmother", Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna. However, Anches died under mysterious circumstances in her home in Paris before this meeting could take place. Maddess Aiort – appeared in Canada in 1937. Her claim of being the Grand Duchess did not mislead anyone of note. In the face of ridicule, she was eventually forced to leave the country. She died in Spain in 1982. Larissa Feodorovna Tudor (aka Margherita Lindsay) - appeared in London immediately after the end of the civil war in Russia. She avoided talking about her past, and it was rumoured that she was a dancer in Constantinople. She married Owen Frederick Morton Tudor, an officer of the 3rd (The King's Own) Hussars. She never herself claimed to be the Grand Duchess, however, the origin of the large fortune that she brought with her is unknown and gave rise to inevitable rumours.
