Greatest Race Ever! LANIKAI COLDPACK CLASSIC 200+ entries Surf Wipeouts

29th edition of the Lanikai Cold Pack Classic. Location:  Lanikai Park.  Inside Lanikai Loop at the corner of Aalapapa and Kaiolena Dr. Parking:  Inside the park there is ample parking.  Park smart to allow maximum vehicles.  Double rows with driving space in-between.  Leave an exit hole near the backstop.  No parking on the basketball court. Time:  Check in and number pick up from 7:30 - 9:00 at Lanikai park pavillion.  If you don't have a blue/green number from 2020 - 2022, the new, yellow number for 2023 will be issued.  Either number will work, but do not come with any other number.  Only the existing KIRA number or get a new one.  At check in we need to verify your category (craft, gender, course) and number.  Your help is needed to make a smooth and accurate timing.  If you have a proper number already on your canoe, you may try to call or text Joey at 808 753-7685 to check in. Race times:  9:30 we'll have a keiki exhibition race right off the beach.  The course will be a triangle about 1.5 miles long.  Any and all keiki welcome to jump in and have fun. 10:00.  Female long and short course. 11:00. Male and mixed OC-2, long and short course. After the men race: the awards and food will be at Lanikai Park.  There will be a canoe cooler for your beverages.  PLEASE BRING ICE.  We always run short on ice.  If you bring ice, you are a champ! Long course will be determined in the morning, depending on surf or not.  If there's no surf and no wind, we will probably run a figure 8 around the Mokulua Islands before shooting down and around Popoia Island (Flat).  The tide will be high enough where reef shouldn't be a big issue, however, always keep your eyes ahead for coral heads, especially towards the finish of the race.  Short course is always the same:  Lanikai Beach to Wailea point, to Na Mokulua and back the way you came. After we close up the park, Nico's at the end of North Kalaheo Ave. will be the final gathering spot, for those that just don't want to go home.
