South Africa Today on 22 September 2024

Today's daily update video from South Africa is from 22 September 2024. In this video, we start with snow around KZN in Glencoe, Ixopo and Ladysmith in South Africa today. It was raining in Richards Bay, Empangeni and Jeffreys Bay. We show the flow of the orange River at the Augrabies Falls National Park. Driving into St. Helena Bay from Vredenburg on the new road. Big bushpig swam across Sunday's river at Riverside Park in Colchester. Then we are at the Extreme Festival, Killarney Motor Racing in Cape Town. We attend the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) and watch a Rooivalk helicopter in Pretoria and we drive across the Vaal River at the Schoemansdrift Bridge on the border between Free State Province and North West. A strong south easter blowing in Noordhoek, and we will visit several more places across South Africa. Here's a short weather forecast for South Africa today: A cut-off low is set to deliver extremely cold, wet, and snowy weather to the Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, and certain areas of Mpumalanga Province. Expect disruptive snowfall that could lead to the interruption of municipal services and hinder the movement of community members in the north-eastern high grounds of the Eastern Cape, the extreme south-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as the Lesotho-Free State corner and nearby areas. Get ready for some disruptive snow! Icy roads and temporary closures of mountain passes are on the horizon for the western high-grounds of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as the central and northern areas of the Eastern Cape, and the southern and eastern parts of the Free State. Stay safe out there! We’re anticipating Yellow Level 2 warnings for strong damaging winds that could lead to challenging driving conditions and the potential for flying debris. This weather event is expected to impact the Northern Cape, as well as the western areas of the Free State and North West Provinces. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in the north-eastern regions of KwaZulu-Natal, which could result in flooding and the displacement of certain communities.
