What WORD should you call your dog with? Emergency recall cues- Training Tip Tuesday

Do you say "come?" When you do, does your dog come every time? Part of the problem is training, but the other part might be your word. An emergency recall word needs to be distinct and memorable-- just like a fire alarm. If you use your emergency word frequently and casually, you'll teach your dog that the word isn't meaningful at all. Pick a special word to use as your "fire alarm" recall word and keep it fresh and salient in your dog's mind. Mine is, "HERE!" Other good options include: Stop Danger Now Front Chicken!! "Here" or "come" in another language Weasel Get in the chopper Cheeeeeese! Where's Waldo!
