Briefing: Sim date/time: Today 1pm Glider class: Any - 18m recommended Max start 5000 feet MSL We're launching from Cambridge Airport, the original home of the Cambridge University Gliding Club but now more private GA, helicopters and jets in for maintenance. The task is an even-sided triangle round-trip meeting the FIA 300km triangle requirements, it's a classic flown in the Cambridge club. After the start we'll head SW, only 15km on track you'll see to the N the current home of the Cambridge club at Gransden, a large airfield with 3 grass strips in a triangle. Then onwards to The City of Dreaming Spires, Oxford, WP1. The actual waypoint used to be large power station cooling towers south of the city but those are recently demolished leaving behind just the railway yards. Turning North there, after a few Km to the E is Bicester Airfield (pronounced Bister), a large grass RAF training airfield with gliders. Onwards to the city of Leicester (pronounced Lester) and just N of that is a distinctive Y-shaped rail junction forming our N waypoint. After Leicester heading SE you'll first see Rutland Water to the N, and then continuing on track you'll see Grafham Water to the S and that's when you can think of yourself back in "home territory" - the Cambridge airfield is only 34km away.
