A day of tribulations for Class 55 Deltic D9000 'Royal Scots Grey', with the locomotive suffering problems on her first major mainline outing following recent work at Barrow Hill. Coupled with LSL's Scotrail Push-Pull set, a full one-way run up the ECML from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh Waverley for the locomotive was hit with disruption even before departure, with a fatality north of Darlington causing delays on the route, resulting in the charter making an unscheduled stop at Doncaster and Newcastle to collect additional passengers. Additionally, engine issues reportedly caused by a loss of coolant delayed the train throughout its journey, down by 86 minutes by the time she reached Doncaster. Despite this, the station saw a strong turnout of enthusiasts wanting to catch glimpse of the loco on home turf. At Doncaster, we also view LNER Class 91 91101 'Flying Scotsman' running a delayed service to Leeds, now sporting LNER's Intercity homage livery, as is now standard on their remaining Class 91 and Mk4 sets.
