Agricultural engineering is the engineering of agricultural production and processing. Agricultural engineering combines the disciplines of mechanical, civil, electrical, Food science and chemical engineering principles with a knowledge of agricultural principles according to technological principles.  Defination Agricultural engineering is the engineering of agricultural production and processing. Agricultural engineering combines the disciplines of mechanical, civil, electrical, Food science and chemical engineering principles with a knowledge of agricultural principles according to technological principles.  Why Do We Study Agricultural Engineering ? Agricultural Engineering consists of six departments which also states it's importance: Farm Power and Machinery This department deals with the research and development of tractors , harvesters, threshers and various other farm machineries .  Agriculture Process Engineering This department deals with the storage of grains , food products it's processing etc. Most of the food industries have silos and and other processing equipments like seed separation ,sorting . Soil and Water Conservation Engineering This department deals with the building and taking preventive measures for conservation of soil and water. Most of the temporary as well as permanent structures are built by these department.Development and management of watershed , preventive measures against erosion ,contour farming , land management comes under this.  Farm Structures As the name states this department works for construction of huge barn, grain storage godowns , strength of the structures , dairy farms, poultry farms etc all this comes under this department. Role Of Agricultural Engineer? Agricultural engineers attempt to solve agricultural problems concerning power supplies, the efficiency of machinery, the use of structures and facilities, pollution and environmental issues, and the storage and processing of agricultural products. Agricultural engineers apply their knowledge of engineering technology and biological science to design agricultural machinery, equipment and structures. They also develop ways to conserve soil and water and help improve the processing of existent agricultural products.
