'I Was a Coal Miner' by Graeme Richardson + Nick Lawrence

My latest lockdown song was an idea I had when I was finishing 'The Final Dance' track , which was based on an old Workingmans Club & the Miners who once packed it out before its closure. I wanted to write a little story about the working life of a miner and, accompanied with old photos and videos, tell this in a storyboard showing the history of what he/they went through daily, working in awful conditions, and how this lifestyle and was taken away in the 1980s, and showing that being a miner never leaves you as its been part of your life for generations and to show that this part of history shall never be forgotten and will always live on. Lots of the photos used are of mines and pits up here in the North East or North Yorkshire, but there are others from all over the UK, Wales & a couple from the US, which fit perfectly with the video. I have searched the internet & YouTube to obtain these images including some old BBC & even Pathe news clips which I have edited. I am unable to find any credits for these to add in this bio, but if anyone watching owns these then please do get in touch and I will add you to any credits. Likewise if anybody recognise themselves or family members in this video please leave a comment as it would be lovely to hear. Thankyou to Ferryhill Town Band for giving permission to use their video in the outro clip, this is greatly appreciated. I also thank my very talented friend Nick Lawrance for his accompanying violin part (recorded separately from his home & emailed) which provides a very haunting feel to the track.
