Salmon Fishing - Locks Well, S.A.

Some extended fine late autumn weather, good tides and a few free days saw me head over to the mid west coast of South Australia, basing myself at the small coastal town of Elliston. The plan was to surf fish some of the excellent salmon beaches in the area, starting with the famous Locks Well. Renowned for consistent catches and sometimes, very large fish, I headed down there early on the first morning only to find that I had been beaten to it and what's more, the older couple were already catching fish! What followed was some really good fishing and although the monsters were absent, I was able to catch 30 in just a couple of hours, all but two on lures and really enjoyed the session.
