How to know when you are becoming angry? Events and Cues - A Conceptual Framework for Understanding Anger Presenter: Mark Simpson, PsyD, MAC, LADAC, MP This session we will go over 1) events that trigger anger and 2) anger cues. In terms of understanding your anger, it is critical that you are able to connect the dots and are able to trace your anger back to a specific event or chain of events. It is also equally important to be able to recognize and identify your "Red Flags." We will go over this important concept in this presentation. Lastly, we will cover anger cues. Anger cues fall into four categories: Physical (human physiology - how your body responds to angry episodes), Behavioral (anger related behaviors), Emotional (emotions that are provoke by anger), and Cognitive cues (thoughts that increase your anger). Individuals working with a counselor should start each of their sessions with identifying the highest number they achieved on the Anger Meter (covered in session 1) over the past week, their anger provoking event, and their specific anger cues. This Video presentation will be most helpful for the following individuals who are challenged by anger: Men and/or women who have a history of domestic violence an/or partner abuse. Anger related to alcoholism and drug addiction. Veteran PTSD anger. Individuals who are on probation or parole as a result of anger and domestic violence.
