This video discusses the Federal TEACH Grant. The TEACH Grant provides free money to undergraduate or graduate students attending college in the United States who plan to become a teacher after finishing school and are willing to complete a service requirement. TEACH Grant recipients are required to teach full-time for 4 out of the 8 years after they leave school as a highly qualified teacher at a low-income school or educational agency in a high-need field. The video discusses these requirements in more detail and highlights several situations that qualify students for a suspension of the teaching requirement. If students do not comply with the service requirement, their TEACH grant converts to an unsubsidized student loan and they become responsible for any interest that would have accrued since they received the TEACH Grant (as well as any interest going forward).
