It’s one of my personal favorites and you will hear this in many of my jazz standard arrangements on PianoGroove. Application To Jazz Standards We start this lesson by explaining the basic theory, we then apply the theory in the context of 3 jazz standards so that you can see the practical application of the technique. Targeting the #11 color is a very useful device when there is melodic space over a 251 progression in a jazz standard, as demonstrated in the examples. 11 Drills & Exercises We then move onto the drills where we play ii-9 to V9(#11) to Imaj9.
