Time to check a few frequency counters, there is nothing more annoying than an inaccurate counter.

Sunday afternoon, just noticed my fluke playing up while doing a full calibration of a beautiful Super Panther and my 10.692/10.695 sideband alignments looked very wrong, so knowing from experience that they were actually 100% right, it was definitely time to test a few counters around the workshop to ensure we don't waste time thinking oscillators are dead when in fact it's the frequency counter malfunctioning. Summary, Fluke 1912A has an intermittent input issue so it's off the bench til fixed, B&K Precision working beautifully up to 60 mhz but a prescaler issue from 75 to 1.2ghz, and the systron donner, slow but with a clean up and alignment, will come back to life and be a good unit. Luckily, I have a few back up of back ups here, so we are back working aok but a few little tweaks to get these 3 counters 100%. The joys of playing radio.... cheers brenton vk3cm
