Nope, this compact SUV has some serious claws, because it could be one of the best driving – if not the best to drive – small SUVs on the market. The Puma arrived in Australia late in 2020, with Ford’s local arm renewing its push to be seen as more than just the Ranger and Mustang brand. And it launched the Puma crossover into one of the busiest segments of the new car market, where more than 20 light SUV and small SUV models vie for a slice of the sales pie. As buyers move away from hatchbacks like the Focus and into SUVs like the Puma – or step up to something larger, like the new Escape – there is a chance for brands to establish themselves as dominant in one way or another in the segments they play in.
