"I come from a public health background, but coming to know how public health intersects with climate and the environment [through the Fellowship] has been really useful to me, and also I’ve been exposed to the GEO-LDN tools which are very useful in analyzing environment data." Clement Danso, CAN Data Science Fellow from our first cohort, discusses his work with the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority (LUSPA) to create a new database to manage land use projects in Ghana. The new system will help streamline and monitor permit applications and accelerate development projects in the country. The Africa Climate and Health Data Capacity Accelerator Network (CAN) is an initiative by the Global Partnership and data.org, with support from the Wellcome Trust and GIZ, aimed at strengthening data capacity in the areas of climate and health and fostering collaboration among data professionals, social impact organizations, and governmental agencies across Africa.
