We visited and took a whale watching tour during mid December and saw SO many whales (as you’ll see in this video). Every winter about ½ of the north Pacific’s Humpback whales make their way to the Maui Basin. Roughly that’s 10-15,000 Humpbacks that make their way here to breed and have their babies. The company Ultimate Whale Watch was recommended to us by some Maui locals and the rec was spot on! These guys were awesome, knowledgeable guides in a much smaller boat than some of the other companies on the water with us that morning. We highly recommend booking with a smaller boat company because it allows you to go faster and really feel the water and get the full experience.
