How I made a bioactive Leopard Gecko enclosure Exo Terra 36x18x18”. I didn’t make the background. It was created out of sheet insulation, Drylok, and acrylic paint. Pumice is added for extra drainage. I’ve found the mesh barrier is not needed with arid enclosures. It is a must with tropical high humdity enclosures. The substrate goes on top. It’s a mix of reptisoil, cypress mulch, spagnum moss, orchid bark, and excavator clay. Use a ratio around 60% bioactive substrate with 40% sand/clay. After adding hides made from corkbark, manzanita, and flagstone I topped it with exo terra desert stone and crushed flagstone. Plants include haworthia, string of bananas, jade, crypts, echeveria, and aloe. The clean up crew consists of Powder Orange Isopods and springtails. Leaf litter and other botanicals are provided as a food source for the isopods and it adds to the natural aesthetic. We use and recommend an Arcadia Jungle Dawn 34” LED for plant growth, Arcadia Shade Dweller 7% UVB. Heating is powered by a ZooMed 75w reptituff halogen in a mini deep dome fixture. #reptileshop #everevolvingexotics #reptiles #bioactive #leopardgecko #gecko #livingvivarium #exoterra
