The new platform underpinning the Mazda CX-60 is a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive platform. It allows not only for a PHEV powertrain - a first for Mazda - but also implies longitudinal placement of the engine. This in turn allows the use of 6-cylinder inline motors.
