Buff Orpington and Black Australorp on my lap. Pecking order stare down for getting my attention.

The chickens names are Linda and Mamee and they are my oldest hens. They are six years old. Both were raised as pets so I like to visit their pen. Linda is number one and Mamee is second in order. Mamee tastes the camera a little just to see. She is food oriented and always is first to eat anything. She's minding her own business on my lap just inches away from Linda, who is jealous that Mamee is up there at all. Linda stares her down and tells her to leave. Mamee does leave (off camera) then Linda comes back to be held again. She likes to be massaged behind her head. Most of the time they both vie for my attention in this way and usually both can be held but the camera took 1 hand.. but I never saw this lap stare down before. I could and do hang out with these muddy feathery birds as often as possible.
