http://www.timothyseaman.com In the early 1700s the great Irish blind harper Turlough O'Carolan composed this air, and it entered the Irish repertoire as a beloved favorite of many. Typically it's played more evenly and brightly, with fewer minor chords, but Timothy Seaman has chosen to approach it under the influence of such music as Chopin nocturnes as played by Arthur Rubinstein. Thus he uses the suede surface of his hammers to create depth of tonal expression and 'lives in the moment' as he carries out the continually adaptable arrangement, seeking to 'move his own soul' with the music. It's somewhat different each time, sometimes more passionate, sometimes more contemplative, sometimes ending with an explosion, sometimes drifting off to silence at the end. Here is just one of those experiences! This is in the key of D, played on a Dusty Strings D600 hammered dulcimer. A studio recording from 1998 on a D260 in the key of G (sandwiched in a medley) is on the album Celebration of Centuries, here: http://timothyseaman.com/index.php/di.... http://www.timothyseaman.com/
