This is an event that I've seen advertised many times but never got to - it was definitely worth it! No dogs allowed, so Oti and Merlin had a chill out between walks, I'd definitely recommend this to visit. 'The festival is regarded as one of the top tulip displays in Europe and is set against the breath-taking backdrop of the Castle. A sea of colour awaits as the festival showcases over 120 different named tulips planted by the castle’s award-winning Head Gardener, Martin Duncan, and his team. This year’s festival features over 100,000 tulips, creating a stunning display of colour and beauty as the bulbs, which have been dormant underground throughout the winter, burst into bloom. Within the Collector Earl’s Garden and Walled Gardens there is an array of colourful tulips. One of our new main displays this year is in the Wild Flower Garden (by the Thatched Round House) which has thousands of Narcissus Thalia (white daffodils) surrounding stunning tiered tulip displays with Oxford, Golden Oxford, Purple Pride together with a ‘Foxtrot Party’ including Foxtrot, Foxy Foxtrot, Red Foxtrot, this is a sight not to be missed! In the Cut Flower Garden there’s a wonderful tiered display known as the Wedding Cake, with Rems Favourite, Negrita & Marta Hari a purple combination of tulips. In the Kitchen Garden you will find the Christening Cake display with lily flowered tulips. The 2024 Tulip Festival commenced on 1st April with different areas of tulips at their best each week. The festival is anticipated to last for approximately three weeks, as the pots were particularly early this year and are already bursting with colour. As visitors approach the castle entrance on Mill Road, ‘Red Impression’ tulips are in full flower giving everyone a wonderful welcome. Once the majestic Castle comes into view you will see the stunning ‘Oxford Red’ tulips on the Castle’s iconic steep banks with more coming into flower each day.'
